Bermuda is a sub-tropical paradise located in the Atlantic, just a seven hour flight from London. As the oldest British colony, it is an elegant mix of British charm and island soul, famed for its stunningly pink sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise water, historic sites and sailing heritage.

An inviting and intriguing destination with a relaxed and genuinely warm, welcoming culture, Bermuda has become a haven for those seeking more active and adventurous breaks. Thanks to its location in the jet-stream, Bermuda enjoys a temperate climate all year round and a healthy outdoors lifestyle, especially on the water. With its abundance of coral reefs surrounding the islands it is also the shipwreck dive capital of the world with over 300 wrecks – but you don’t have to scuba, you can also see reefs and wrecks teaming with marine life by simply snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding or sailing over them. Explore on-land too, by cycling, hiking, horse-riding or simply strolling the Old Railway Trail - a lush green path which spans the length of the island connecting colourful villages, hidden coves, historical sites, beautiful beaches and incredible panoramic views.

Bermuda offers near perfect sailing conditions and as the home of the 35th America’s Cup presented by Louis Vuitton in 2017, is the perfect international venue to showcase the excitement the America’s Cup generates. The race course on The Great Sound is a natural amphitheatre with room for racing and spectators, set against a spectacular backdrop of islands and beaches.

In preparation for the world’s most prestigious sailing event in 2017, the Royal Naval Dockyard is being developed into the America’s Cup Village and will be the heart of the event for the teams and fans alike. In addition, many of Bermuda’s hotels have undergone refurbishment, new hotels are set to open, a new marina, spas, restaurants and experiences have been recently launched to give visitors a real taste of island life.

To celebrate the 35th America’s Cup and to encourage more to enjoy the thrill and excitement of sailing on Bermuda’s waters, the Bermuda Tourism Authority has just launched a new learn to sail programme in association with the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, which is a Royal Yachting Association training centre. The courses are designed for those taking their first sailing experience or those seeking to improve their skills. The programme ranges from half a day up to five day courses, can be customized for those of all ages. Now you can follow in the footsteps of some of the world’s greatest sailors, sail on The Great Sound and be awarded a UK recognised sailing certification.
